Commissioning a painting
I have had the pleasure of being commissioned to paint to some truly remarkable people (and creatures).
Learning about my subject and visually translating my clients’ affection for them is a touching experience. The process of getting to the heart of the a subject and what they mean to others is a delicate yet fascinating one. It involves asking the right questions, sharing stories and photos as well as a certain degree of intuition.
I have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the commissioned portraits that I have created. Much of the initial feedback I have received has been face to face or over the phone, and was so personal and profound that it can’t be iterated here. These moments have been some of my most rewarding as an artist.

"Tremendous work."
(My wife) was absolutely surprised, charmed, then ecstatic. After a few minutes she became sombrely reflective - it reminded her of her relationship with (our son) and him growing up, and he looks so deeply forwards into the future in your art… it's great.
She's still thinking about somewhere where she can look at it at night, when he's in bed. I think she loves it, Natasha.
She mentioned that the eyes are a delight, and really likes her hair, and even took special mention of her ears being perfect!
For someone who, like most of us, doesn't really enjoy seeing themselves in photos, she's been looking at it and smiling all evening.
