The delicious colours of this late afternoon scene (as seen from my home) were the inspiration behind this work. I aimed to capture the layers of light as they built up, kind of like an ice cream sundae, from deep and dark in the shade below and becoming thick, white and fluffy and full at the peak.
I leaned into the colours here in order to emphasise them, however as surreal as they may seem, the real scene was in fact quite nearly this bright and colourful.
