I painted this painting at a time when Jupiter was unusually close to the Earth, and was (rather incredibly) visible low and bright on the evening horizon for several months. Perhaps it’s because my sign is Pisces and Jupiter is my ruling planet, perhaps it was because I was at the precipice of a major shifting point in my life, but the energy that I felt in these few weeks was powerful. Raw, intense, sensual, confident, brave. Jupiter’s energy had helped me to unlock something from deep within, and was calling me to face it, explore it, to savour it and to turn it back out into the world. This painting was one of my clearest expressions of the energy that I felt at this time, this incredible energy that surged through me and so many others, and still does now.

There is an undeniable feeling of change in the air. I firmly believe that we as a collective are moving into a new age, a time in which new ways to move forward will emerge, as the old ways that no longer serve us will begin to drop away. In order to thrive moving forward a great shift will be needed. Both as a collective and as individuals. As both artist and yoga practitioner, I have learned that change really does start from within. It might seem like a cliché, but I assure you I have discovered it to hold great truth. We cannot, after all, give outwardly to the world if we have not nourished ourselves inwardly. We cannot fully allow ourselves love until we have have first practiced it toward ourselves. And so this new era, this new world order, this mass reset - whatever you choose to call it - calls for us to find that within our selves that which we ultimately seek without.

What is it that you seek? Do you want passion? Truth? Peace? Connection? Love? Let us begin to cultivate these things inwardly, in small ways or large. Let us be truthful in this pursuit, and embark on this journey from a place deep within, not for others to see or judge. And then, once we have begun to cultivate from within as a collective, let us see how we can start to make positive change in this world.
