“I see Magpies as being some of the most unique and colourful characters of all Australian wildlife. Yes, they can be downright terrifying when protecting their babies, but when you think about it, isn’t that something rather commendable? They also have the most striking plumage and an incredible, warbling song. These birds are a constant reminder of how truly incredible our natural surroundings are.

This work entitled ‘A Shift in Perspective’ is about looking at our natural environment from a different point of view. We humans are so great at observing what the world can do for us, but we all too often forget that we share this world with infinite other beings, each one experiencing it from their own unique viewpoint. If we humans find magpies annoying because they swoop, imagine how they must see us as we noisily and unapologetically go about our daily lives in their ever-shrinking nesting grounds.” – Natasha Zraikat
